Style Profile: What's #TheOne For Natalie Pinto Of The Fashionably Broke

Share

Over the last few weeks’ we’ve been chatting to some of our favorite fashion influencers to find out what #TheOne is for them. Charmed by her sleek and playful style, we caught up with Nataile Pinto, the French-Italian American behind The Fashionably Broke blog to learn more about her first designer purchase, where to brunch in DC and of course, what her #TheOne luxury item is.

In 3 words, how would you describe your style?

'Feminine, Relaxed, Experimental'

Which colors and patterns do you wear the most?

'I’ve been wearing a lot of red lately! It wears surprisingly well as a neutral. I just purchased a pair of red booties and have been wearing them non-stop! I love experimenting with colors, but I’m slightly pickier when it comes to patterns. To me, you can never go wrong with stripes though. Call me safe, but they’re playful, yet classic and sophisticated.'

What is your favorite designer brand and why?

'Chloe. I've loved every collection ever. The brand always seems to tell a beautiful story of classic romance in its collections, the kind that I believe any girl can relate to. The pieces always feel elevated and renewed, while still being timeless at the same time, making them super wearable.'

What was your first designer purchase?

'A pair of sky-high, reddish-orange Jimmy Choo heels. I found them on super sale in NYC during a trip for a project I was working on for my blog. I was still working my full-time job at the time so, if I remember correctly, that’s how I justified the purchase to myself. I deserved them!'

Do you think your French/Italian roots have influenced your style?

'Most undoubtedly. Mostly the French side- My French grandma has been a huge influence in my style journey. Having worked in the fashion industry a great part of her life, styling beautiful women and buying for world renowned brands like Valentino, she has always had impeccable style and always loved dressing us (my sister & I). She maintains a practically empty closet while appearing to never wear the same thing twice. Talk about inspiration! I call her before making any designer purchase now- She’s a pro.'

Which trends do you want to invest in for SS17?

'Color! I, admittedly, was once not so much of a fan of investing in color, but I think investing in a well saturated closet is worthwhile. The spring runway also proved that there are a few prints that my closet should be armed with this season, like florals and gingham. I’m not afraid to mix and match them either.'

What is #TheOne luxury purchase from Farfetch for you?

'J.W.Anderson has been a designer to watch lately and I’ve long awaited adding one of their signature bags to my collection.  The J.W.Anderson logo purse is a great size for everyday wear and the interchangeable straps really make it desirable – I love anything that gives you options. I went with white, even though it comes in an array of colors, because, combined with the gold logo embellishment, it feels timeless and chic!'

Where would you showcase it in D.C.?

'This is a purse that you can wear almost anywhere, which is why I selected it out of the enormous selection of designer bags on Farfetch! This bag will be my companion for Sunday brunches at my favorite local brasserie, La Diplomat, and on my arm as I attend networking events in the evenings. With the cherry blossoms in full bloom, my new white bag will pop against the endless floral backdrops.'
