Summer in Seattle with Sarah Butler

Share

For globetrotter and blogger Sarah Butler, there is nothing quite like spending summer in her hometown Seattle – one of few destinations where sandy beaches, mountain peaks plus an urban city are at your fingertips.

What are your top three style essentials for summer in Seattle?

My top three style essentials for summer in Seattle would have to be a pair of leather Gucci slippers, Levi’s wedgie jeans, and a floral blouse. These top my list of must-haves because they work for any itinerary I might have planned, such as dinner with friends, shopping with mom, or a day at the office.

What makes summer in Seattle different to anywhere else in the world?

Summer is my favorite season in Seattle. The combination of the water, mountains, and city make it really unique and special. I often find myself on a lake paddle boarding, outside enjoying a rooftop cocktail in the city, or riding my bike through my favorite Seattle neighborhoods.

Which designer brands would you say win summer in Seattle?

Needle & Thread is definitely a designer brand I’d suggest to wear while in Seattle. The subtle colors paired with intricate details make wearing a statement piece easy in a relaxed city like Seattle. The ditsy bow top is a favorite piece of mine by Needle & Thread.

What is your top summer evening wear tips?

We are lucky to have very long summer days in Seattle. The sunlight lasts late into the night, so a breezy, printed dress is definitely my go-to for a summer evening here. I’m a fan of all styles, from a maxi to a mini-cut, either way a breezy silhouette paired with a great print is a win for summer in Seattle.

What is your favorite Seattle neighbourhood to visit in the summer?

I often find it hard to leave the neighbourhood of Capitol Hill (where I live). It has all my favorite spots, which include everything from cafes and ice cream shops to the best dinner locations and bars.

You’re going for a picnic, what would you pack and where would you go?

Since I’m not the best cook, I would pick up a few ham and cheese baguettes from one of my favorite spots, Cafe Presse and head to Gas Works Park. I’m a fan of Gas Works Park because it has an incredible view of downtown Seattle and South Lake Union. There’s an abundance of green grass to set-up on and take in the view.

You have a day off, how would you spend the perfect summer’s day?

On a day off, you would definitely find me on the water. Most likely on the lake! On a warm summer day, there is nothing better than a day on a boat, paddle boarding, or jet skiing. The blue water surrounded by all the green Seattle boasts is hard to beat.
