WORDS BY JULIE DUAN
There are 3 things that come to mind when you think of St. Patrick’s Day right? Fun, boozy, and green. So much green. Shamrock hats, neon green fancy dress accessories and Guinness everything. So great for that late night pub crawl, but what if you don’t actually want to be dressed like you’re drunk? You’re in luck - Irish blogger Erika Fox, aka Retro Flame, is here with her take on incorporating that lucky green into your outfit for this weekend’s festivities...
Green can be a daunting colour to wear, what are your tips for pulling it off?
‘I would usually style green accessories with a monochrome look to ensure that it pops! I also love pairing green with gold - I think that is such a nice colour combo! And of course I’d advise avoiding pairing green with other bright colours, to keep [your] outfit looking classy and timeless.’
Do you have any St. Patrick's Day traditions?
‘Since moving to NYC, I love to watch the parade on 5th avenue, then meet some friends and go to one of my favourite Irish spots in the city. It's always a fun day!’
How does spending St. Patrick’s Day in NYC compare to spending it in Ireland?
‘It's definitely a little crazier in Ireland! In Ireland almost everyone in the country is off [work], so that makes it a little different too.’
What are your plans this year?
‘It's on a Saturday this year so it should be extra fun. I will go and watch the parade as usual and meet some friends after for drinks. I'm excited!’
