WORDS BY AMELIA BELL
adidas Originals by Alexander Wang is back. Its third and final instalment (Season 3, Drop 3) has an all-new look, and is set to land on Farfetch in a matter of hours.
Where’s Wang taking us this time round? An industrial laundromat: the source of inspiration for the designer’s 16-piece, perma-wrinkled collection calls upon the inevitable manufacturing errors and mechanical faults in clothing. Reimagining some of adidas’ most iconic pieces, expect creased, box-fit windbreaker jackets, exposed hems and uneven prints.
Photographer Brianna Capozzi captures a sense of surreal in the run-of-the-mill laundromat with models Lexi Boling and Cat McNeil striking poses amid lines of ironed shirts, a row of washing machines - even balancing on top of an ironing board.
Footwear your thing? There are 2 colourways of the AW Turnout trainer, a textured shoe that plays with colour and fabric, featuring suede overlays and an industrial foam tongue to tie in with the capsule’s theme.
As for the colour palette, fire-engine red is offset by neutral greys, black and white, plus pops of purple and blue – a visual flip to the mahogany tones of Drop 1 and neon seen in Drop 2.
From its slew of collaborations with Stella McCartney, Raf Simons and Rick Owens, adidas Originals has become the go-to for elevated athleisure. We can’t wait to see what’s next…
