10 Minutes with Hannah Crosskey

Share

Walking the contemporary-cool line with ease, Hannah Crosskey of A Fashion Fix treats her followers to a masterclass in relaxed, low-key dressing.

The former personal shopper’s innate sense of style has captured the hearts of young women on a global scale – her notable audience is proof of that. Effortless and minimal – with leather and Levi’s ranking high in her capsule staples – the British blogger gives us the lowdown on her Insta-influences, wardrobe must-haves and her eternal love-affair with monochrome.

1.       Name 3 words that best describe your style?

'I would say that my style is quite minimal. I don't really tend to wear many colours. I'm only wearing black or white now with a smaller stripe. Other than that, it's very minimal, black and white. I guess I like to think it's quite sleek and put together. There's not really anything too over-the-top. I don't wear too many accessories, things like that. I always have the same question. I always give different answers. I like to start out with accessories. I feel like it's the best use of your money if you buy accessories because you can wear them all the time.'

2.       What are your top 3 essential items?

'I'd say that a good bag is essential. A good leather jacket is also important because that's going to take you from season to season. A relaxed pair of jeans is also a must-have item. I have a nice pair of blue Levi's 501s, and I wear them all the time.'

3.       If you could collaborate with any fashion designer in the world on your blog, who would it be and why?

'I quite like Charlie May, the blogger.'

'I really like her style, and I feel her style will be quite like mine. That'd be quite a good collaboration.'

4.       Who’s style do you admire and respect the most within the blogosphere?

'Danielle Bernstein from We Wore What, Lucy Williams from Fashion Me Now. I also like Camille Charriere from blog Over the Rainbow. There's loads of Instagrammers who I follow as well, but they don't tend to have blogs. I feel like people are starting their online presence just on Instagram and then they're launching their blogs afterward.'

5.       Which colours and patterns do you wear the most?

'I guess I don't really ever wear patterns. The most patterned pieces I'd wear would be something like my Gucci Dionysus bag. It's mainly black, white, neutral, cream and grey, but these are still colours after all.'

6.       What trends are you most excited about for the spring/summer season?

'I haven't even looked at the trends. I used to really follow trends. I used to observe and absorb trends and do blog posts on them, that kind of thing, but now I feel like it's a better way to buy what you like and you can save so much money that way. I couldn't even tell you what the trend last week was.'

7.       How often do you go shopping?

'About once a month? Not too much. I normally shop online. I feel like that's a better way to go. I don't like trying stuff on, so I'll buy online, try it on at home, and if I don't like it, I'll easily be able to return it.'

8.       We really admire the variety of looks you present on your blog and Instagram. How do you get inspiration and plan for all of your looks?

'It's hard. Instagram have got the 'Save' option on the right-hand side. I usually go from the 'Explore' page and just save, so whenever I need inspiration I go into the screenshot area and look. That's what I tend to do. Or sometimes Pinterest.'

'I've got some really nice metallic boots that I'll need to shoot today. I didn't know what to wear with them, so I looked through the 'Explore' page, found a nice outfit and then put together the look like that.'
