Share

Depending on where you live in the world, a jacket needs to be many things all at once: stylish and sophisticated, casual and comfortable and quite often, a transitional item. Whether you need it to carry you from day to night or to make a smooth transition between seasons, #TheOne jacket is an important part of any ensemble.

That’s why so many fashion bloggers’ wardrobes contain #TheOne jacket which remains a perennial staple for them. Many avoid trends and go for investment jackets and coats in timeless styles and cuts, making it #TheOne jacket for them.

We’ve spent some time chatting to some of our fashion blogger friends and influencers to find out what #TheOne jacket is for each them.

My Belonging:

Developing a sense of personal style that's of purpose and meaning is quite a difficult task to take on here in Los Angeles. I know, because I had to deal with it first-hand. After moving back to the City of Los Angeles (as I like to call with affection) from my college and early years, I struggled with blistering hot temps during the day and chilly (sometimes windy) temps at night. Not to mention, my days consist of meetings and events on a regular basis. This is why my Saint Laurent officer coat has become a part of my uniform, especially when I have to transform my outfit from day to night.

This jacket is versatile enough to be worn anywhere, as it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. It's always going to be a statement piece no matter what you choose to do with it. I typically wear this jacket with light and neutral layers underneath at my meetings and button it all the way up for an evening affair paired with a tailored trouser and formal shoes.

I love how it drapes on my body if I wear it over the shoulder, and also how it becomes a suit jacket in an instant when buttoned up. The buttons are classically Saint Laurent; there's a weight to it that evokes a subtle elegance. It's the chicest jacket I've ever owned. A worthwhile investment is a transformational and versatile one. I'm a huge proponent of investing in pieces that you wear all the time. In this case, it's a piece of wearable art that you can live and move in!

Layers of Chic:

Living in New York City, sometimes I just want to get away from the noise and chaos. One of my favorite things to do is explore neighborhoods in the city that transport you to another place; like South Street Seaport in the Financial District. With a distinct European flair and a quaint small town vibe, I love strolling through the Seaport area and taking in the pretty buildings and discovering local shops.

Spring is the best time for this activity, and to embrace the season I would wear a little red jacket with an extra flair. With a ruffle sleeve detail that is so on trend right now; this Drome jacket is the #TheOne piece I would want to add sophistication and color to my wardrobe. The mix of leather and ruffles makes a winning combination of hard and soft and is romantic yet edgy, just like NYC. I also love the unexpected detail of the big circular buttons that give the jacket a retro vibe that is so fitting for my modern vintage style.

A Poor Man's Millions:

As a creative, to stay inspired within my job, a visually interesting environment is an important aspect.

Right now In Melbourne, Australia we are transitioning from summer to autumn. At this time of the year I love walking through parks in and around the city. The concrete grey buildings within the city against the colorful settings of park lands as the green flora change to autumn tones are a sight to see. I liken this visual inspiration to my own sense of style because similarly, I am a visual juxtaposition with my boldly colored tattoos against clean tailored garments.

Working in the fashion industry, focusing on menswear I particularly love hardwearing, well-constructed garments. What is more perfect than a denim jacket?

One of my favorites is the Natural Selection denim jacket that can be purchased through Farfetch. The brand is known for its clean lines and quality fabrication and this can be seen in this denim jacket with its minimalist finish and fine details. Denim jackets are not only a practical garment to have on hand with the changing temperatures, denim itself is like the seasons also changing in structure and color.

Character in clothing is built through its wearer and that is why this Natural Selection denim jacket is #TheOne for me!

Micah Gianneli:

When you find #TheOne – you just know. It’s like falling in love – and I’ve fallen head over (high) heels with this Rebecca Vallance leather and sheepskin biker jacket. I have a lot of bikers, and when I get a hold of the right one – I hardly let go. They’re a staple piece that get better with age, compliments any outfit and transcends seasons.

This one is definitely slicker than your average – with its soft pebbled leather, sheepskin collar and fitted style. With just the right mix of edge and elegance, you get the best of both worlds with its detachable collar – giving you two different styles. A leather biker says a lot about a person – and if I was a jacket, this piece would be me. It’s classy with an edge, feminine but fierce, versatile and makes a statement. It’s perfect for whatever I’ve got going on – meetings, shopping and enjoying the amazing eateries and restaurants Melbourne is popular for – and ideal for its unpredictable weather too. While I predominantly shop online, I like to go about it the good old fashioned way every now and then, and this jacket goes with me. It’s a must-have investment with form and function.

The Style Division:

The French word 'flâneur' describes a person who enjoys a good stroll. Someone who enjoys exploring without a pre-defined destination. When a day becomes too hectic or you need to clear your head a saunter around town could be just what the doctor ordered. I love a mindless wander around London as historic landmarks and the buzz of the crowd is always around the corner. In those times I don't wish to be encumbered by heavy layers so a classic bomber jacket from Saint Laurent is usually my go-to option. You can style it with pretty much any t-shirt or jumper you have and with summer just around the corner a lightweight jacket is perfect for those evening walks down Embankment.

Layla Panam:

You can never go wrong with a good denim jacket. The first thing I think about when considering buying a designer item is versatility. I love to have an item in my wardrobe that I can dress up or down and for me the denim jacket is the perfect wardrobe staple.

Also for a jacket to be #TheOne, it needs to work for me and my personal style on multiple occasions and across seasons. For many, a designer jacket is an investment piece and therefore it has to last, be classic yet stay contemporary and be #TheOne jacket that suits my dress sense. My style is glamorous, relaxed and urban all at once, so this denim jacket by Off-White is #TheOne for me.
