Style Profile: Q Mike

Share

We catch up with influential fashion blogger Q Mike to discuss his love of photography, his alternative sense of style and his nice collection of shirts.

1.        Describe your style in 3 words.

'I consider my style as alternative, edgy and classy.'

2.        What made you start your blog, have you always loved fashion?

'I was initially more into photography. If you see me on my Instagram, my photos are a little bit more conceptual. I really like the idea of capturing a moment in time and transforming it into a really beautiful photo.'

'I started my blog when I came to London because I saw a lot of style here. There are a lot of different cultures and influences. That’s what pushed me to share my own style and mix it with my photography as well. I was never into fashion before, but when I came to London, that pushed me a lot to do it.'

3.        Name three clothing pieces to effortlessly enhance one's wardrobe.

'A good pair of trainers, a good leather jacket and a pair of jeans. Everybody should have that.'

4.        How often do you like to shop and invest in designer pieces?

'I usually invest more on camera equipment because I'm a photographer, but I do treat myself, let's say four times a year, even more. It depends on every collection each year when it comes to designer pieces.'

5.        Do you think it’s important to accessories your look?

'Yes, for sure, because that makes you look even better. You always put a little bit of edge into the outfit by adding accessories that can make you look really cool. I usually go with necklaces and rings.'

6.        You have a nice collection of shirts, do you have any tips for styling a plain white shirt?

'I do have a lot of shirts. I have a lot of white shirts in particular. I think I have around 20 something white shirts!'

'My best tip for styling a white shirt is to wear it with grey or beige chinos. And short chinos that are cropped. When styling the shirt, don’t button it all the way up - this makes it look more casual. And I always put a hat on.'

7.        What are your go to staple pieces? And who are your favourite designers?

'I think I would go with my Salinas ankle boots and Acne jeans, always. I wear them a lot.'

'My favourite designer is Saint Laurent of course.'

8.        Do you plan all your wardrobe buys for awesome OOTD looks?

'I think my looks are quite random in a way. I never style it before, even for Fashion Week. I just bring a lot in the suitcase and just decide at the moment how I'm feeling. I'm just going through Instagram for 20 minutes and I see a lot of style, so I get inspired in the moment. I should actually prepare more.'
