WORDS BY JOSEPH FURNESS
It’s taken them what seems like forever, but Nike has (finally) officially announced the release date of the Air Max 720: a sneaker we’ve longed-for since the design leaked back in summer ‘18. The brand-new silhouette is scheduled to drop next month, just weeks ahead of Nike Air Max Day, and we’re so, so ready.
This sneaker really is EVERYTHING. It’s guaranteed to be ultra comfortable, it comes in a plethora of stylish, versatile colourways and is — in our opinion — the sleekest looking Nike sneaker since 1997.
Plus, they’re the sort of crepes that will have your mates asking you “what sneaks are those?” or “where did you get your kicks from?” ― two phrases that bring an indescribable amount of joy to sneakerheads across the globe. Teach them we will, young padawans.
What makes the Nike Air Max 720 so special?
-
It features Nike’s highest Air sole ever (what a unit).
-
The name derives from the design being inspired by the Nike Air Max 270 (see what they did there).
-
There will be limited colourways. I can almost hear the sound of hypebeasts cheering.
-
Just look at them.
Are the Nike Air Max 720s on-trend?
Before adding anything to your cart in 2019, you want to be asking yourself one question first: “Would the Jetson’s wear this?”. Why? Because neo-futuristic aesthetics, as proven at recent fashion weeks, is one of the biggest trends of the year. And we can totally see Jane Jetson flexing the Northern Lights (night) colourway of the Air Max 720. After all, what's more futuristic than walking on air?
How do the Nike Air Max 720s fit?
The Air Max 720 is expected to fit true to size, just like the Air Max 270.
However, those with wider feet may want to consider going half a size up as these sneakers are of a narrow design.
What Nike Air Max 720 colourways are there?
Take a look for yourself...
“Colour needs to strike a balance between amplifying the tech and making its own statement," (Courtney Dailey, Nike VP of Color Design.)
Stop digressing, goddammit. When is the Nike Air Max 720 release date?
No need to get aggressive...
Here are the facts, plain and simple.
Nike will be releasing the Northern Lights pack, which includes the Aurora Borealis colourway, on 1st February 2019.
Nike is then scheduled to drop the sunrise and sunset colourways on 21st February 2019 and then the release date for the total eclipse (triple black), sea forest, and pink sea iterations of the shoe is the 28th February 2019.
